It’s been a while, hasn’t it?

Now, before anyone asks… no, I haven’t abandoned cross stitch and taken up competitive knitting.

Truth is, Floss Boss Fight Club has completely taken over my brain. Between organising fights, spreadsheets, badges, ideas, and generally trying to convince people that stabbing tiny Xs into fabric is a competitive sport, I’ve had a lot going on.

Life’s also thrown a few bits and pieces my way. Some really positive, some… well, let’s just say not so positive. We don’t need to unpack all that today.

The end result?

My stitchy bug has taken an absolute kicking.

You know that feeling when you sit down with your current project, stare at it for ten minutes, move the needle about a bit, then suddenly decide reorganising your floss drawer is somehow more important?

Yeah… that.

But every stitcher knows there’s only one proven cure for a runaway stitchy bug.

NEW START!!

I know.

I KNOW.

Some of you are already shouting, “Finish Burlesque Belly Dancer first!”

Relax.

She’s not going anywhere. She’s just having a little holiday while I try and remember why I fell in love with stitching in the first place.

So… I’ve picked a new project.

Well…

Sort of.

I’m not actually telling you what it is.

Not yet.

This project is going to be stitched Extreme Cross Country (ECC) style on 32ct 1 over1. If you’ve never heard of ECC before, it basically means I’ll stitch one colour across the ENTIRE chart before moving onto the next one.

Completely sensible.

Totally not the behaviour of someone who’s lost the plot.

The brilliant thing is that for the first few colours it’ll look like absolute nonsense. Random stitches everywhere. Tiny islands of thread with absolutely no clue what they’re supposed to be.

Slowly though…

One colour at a time…

The mystery will start revealing itself.

Now for a few clues…

🧵 It’s ridiculously fun.

🧵 It’s absolutely MASSIVE. We’re talking well over half a million stitches.

🧵 It uses 150 colours, which is approximately 147 more than my brain is currently capable of processing.

That’s all you’re getting.

Nice try.

And because apparently I enjoy making life difficult for myself…

You’re choosing what I stitch next.
Withe the first colour choosen already….. *drum roll*…… its DMC31 and has 2070 stitches

After every update I’ll post the remaining thread colours over on the my Facebook page, and whichever colour gets the most votes… that’s the one I’ll stitch next.

Will your choice reveal half the picture?

Will you accidentally uncover the biggest clue in week one?

Or will you all decide it’d be hilarious to make me stitch 8,000 stitches of beige before anything interesting happens?

Knowing this community…

I’m preparing myself for beige.

Once I’ve stitched the chosen colour, all the progress photos and updates will be posted here on the blog. That’s where we’ll slowly watch this ridiculous idea come to life, one colour at a time.

Honestly…

I think this might be the project that drags my stitchy mojo back kicking and screaming.

Or it might completely break me.
